This session may incorporate aromatherapy, soothing massage techniques, craniosacral therapy, more time on feet, scalp, and neck, etc - the goal is to get you out of your head, provide the traditional benefits of massage (improved circulation, blood pressure, dopamine/serotonin production, immune system support, etc) and leave you refreshed and ready to enjoy a nice long nap when you get home!
Trigger point massage is a form of massage therapy that focuses on relieving pain in specific areas of the body. These areas are typically referred to as "trigger points" and can be located in the muscles, tendons, or ligaments. Trigger points are often the result of an injury or overuse, and can cause pain in other areas of the body when they are aggravated.
Trigger point massage therapy is designed to alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with trigger points. The therapist will use a variety of techniques, including kneading, friction, and pressure, to release the trigger point and provide relief. In some cases, the therapist may also use stretching or range of motion exercises to release the trigger point. Trigger point massage can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, muscle spasms, tennis elbow, repetitive strain injuries, and more.
Trigger point massage is usually performed using the hands, but can also be done with the elbows, forearms, or feet. The therapist will typically use a light to moderate pressure, depending on the client's pain tolerance. The massage should not be painful, but there may be some discomfort as the trigger point is released. Trigger point massage is generally safe for most people. However, it is important to check with your doctor before beginning any new massage therapy, especially if you have a medical condition or are pregnant.
