The cupping-only service is designed as a supplement to regular massage appointments, or for very specific work on chronic areas. We practice both dynamic cupping **Please note that you will likely have some circular, reddish marks for a few days after treatment. The marks are typically not sore or tender.
Mind/Body Maintenance Massage
Designed for regular massage clients seeking a "full body" massage. If you don't have any particular pain or areas of concern to work on, but want to have a more relaxing-oriented massage, select this option. This session may incorporate aromatherapy, soothing massage techniques, craniosacral therapy, more time on feet, scalp, and neck, etc - the goal is to get you out of your head, provide the traditional benefits of massage (improved circulation, blood pressure, dopamine/serotonin production, immune system support, etc) and leave you refreshed and ready to enjoy a nice long nap when you get home!
Neuromuscular massage is a type of massage that focuses on the muscles and nervous system. This type of massage can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including headaches, TMJ disorders, whiplash, carpal tunnel syndrome, and more. Neuromuscular massage is often used in conjunction with other forms of treatment, such as physical therapy and chiropractic care. Neuromuscular massage therapy (NMT) is a system of massage techniques that focuses on the treatment of underlying causes of chronic pain.
It is based on the premise that chronic pain is often the result of dysfunction in the body's nervous and muscular systems. NMT practitioners use a variety of massage techniques to address these issues and restore balance to the body. Neuromuscular massage is usually performed by a licensed massage therapist. This type of massage can be done using both the hands and elbows. The therapist will use a variety of strokes and pressure points to release the tension in the muscles.
During a neuromuscular massage, the therapist will work to release the trigger points that are causing the pain. Trigger points (commonly known as knots) can cause pain in other parts of the body. Neuromuscular massage is usually a slow and gentle massage, but the therapist may use more pressure if the client is comfortable with it.
Neuromuscular massage is the bread & butter of Kinetic Restoration. We may ask you to perform small movements during the massage. This helps the nervous system and the muscular system work seamlessly so that your shoulder "remembers" that you now have full range of motion, instead of hesitating when you get close to the painful part of reaching overhead or behind you. You can consult our massage therapists at Kinetic Restoration on whether neuromuscular massage is right for you. Schedule your appointment today!
